Anyone seen Religulous?

Curious what people think about it. I am supposed to watch it for work this weekend.

Bill Mahr is an asshole but he's a funny and a smart asshole. And usually makes sense of a non sensical subject matter.

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

From the reviews I've read, it sounds a lot like Borat. He gets religious people to say some amazingly stupid things in front of the camera. While I might get a perverse pleasure out of it, it would only confirm what I already believe, and I'm not sure I want to see people embarrass themselves so much.

American Carol is good; I saw it tonight. Miracle at St Anna was decent but has several plots going on at once. I need to watch it again .

Actually, from the reviews, he gets "some" religious people to say stupid things. He avoided for the most part Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Atheism. Think he left out Scientologists also. So seems to be a bit biased, what a surprise.

Any movie that makes fun of Michael Moore is ok in my book.

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

I find Bill Mahr pretty funny, watched him for years.. Over the last couple years, he has kinda gone from funny to maniacal and political.. I will wait for it to come out on DVD, but do want to watch it...

I am disappointed he didnt touch Judaism or Zionism though... I mean c'mon, arent they directly responsible for all of christianity? And what better fodder for Bill than "So can you tell me WHY God chose you to rule the world, and still expects you to torture animals before you eat them??"

That would be funny...

I hate Bill Maher . His mannequin-esque appearance is a great selling point for the vegan lifestyle. Great big , pasty pussy as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. He kind of went nuts-o in the last few years. I have to watch this movie for work, or I would wait for video or cable.

As for not touching on Judaism or Zionism, he should have.

Scientology? C'mon! The only reason scientology is considered a religion is so Hubbard could get his tax exempt status. I drive by their "center" in hollywood (when I have no choice) and I see the clones in white out on the lawn cutting individual blades of grass with a pair of scissors. Suckers deserve to get fleeced by this scam group if they are that dumb.

Church of scientology: please don't sue me

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

Was Tom Cruise out there cutting grass, or does he just mail it in?

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

You know, the number of celebs who have become Scientologists is kind of scary. I mean something like 20% of major artists are now scientologists or have "entertained the idea of becoming one". They all do it to help their career. With Cruise and his production company as well as Will Smith....I could go on and on. Of course, since it was started to be a money making scam it kind of works. They worship money.

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

Germany was looking into banning it, but I'm not sure how it worked out.

Maybe the next step is a "final solution."

Re: Anyone seen Religulous?

France is trying to remove their "non profit" status as a church. For good reason.
