Talking Lowes or Home Depot!

Which of these two stores do spearfishermen like most? I ponder such questions at times. I have my own opinion.

Lowe's is for the chicks, Home Depot is for the men.

Lowe's is a bit more pricey, but has much better organization, selection, and service...I favor Lowe's. Spearchucker, what's this "Lowe's is for chicks" bull. They're both for "chicks" once wives realize there are tons of home improvement items in either store that their husbands have to do all the work installing!

Lowe's concentrates on wallpaper, lights, towel holders, etc... and has a very poor building materials department. Home Depot is exactly the opposite. If you are building your house, go to Home Depot, if you are decorating it, go to Lowe's.

Home Depot's employees tend to be much more knowlegable on construction related issues.

I would have to agree with John about Home Depot being more knowlegable. Lowes does seem a little higher on there prices too.

I prefer Home Depot . The one here anyway seems to have a better selection of tools and building supplies than Lowes .

Depends on what I am after. Lowes for certain things (wifes dad works there and we get a discount) HD for other stuff...

Real men go to to The Home Depot. Although, the poor bastard you see buying 100 10' PT 2x8's & a box of gun nails on Monday, you see him and his wife on Sat. morning in the wall paper section.

Around here Lowe's has a better selection than the Depot. They both seem to have the same price on most builing supplies also. I just watch the sales. I also like to price match with a 10% discount between the two.

I think they both suck as of late,I will go to a hard ware store long before I step foot through one of those "home improvement"stores. The last time I went to the depot they did not have four out of four items I went there for. Also the stores have no consistency what soever ,example ,a store on dale mabry has a certain glue, paint, lumber and a brandon store has none of the same items .I guess they had to make room for the wafflemakers. My point is any person who makes a living being handy can't count on the depot. Now I understand demographics and how they affect companys decisions on what to carry on a per store basis but they must also consider consistency and service. My local HD was just remodeled and yes they have made a lot of progress even though they styled it to look just like lowesIt just bothers me that they are discontinuing hardware items and repair items to carry washers ,dryers, and I even saw toasters. What's next satin sheets?
