I've shown photos of mine dozens of times, but I'm in Germany now and don't have access to them. Try an advanced search with gun racks in the text and my user name and you'll get lots of hits.

Thanks Jeff. I'll just add that I got them from Spearfishing Specialties, one of the Board's sponsors.

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

I sure wish someone would come up with a new style of rack. Barrels are o.k., but they take up a lot of space on small boats. Racks like Bill's take up very little space but euro guns and many winged midhandled guns don't fit in them. Guns come in so many shapes and sizes now. To accommodate them all you need something that can be adjusted to fit whatever gun comes aboard that day.

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

Nate is right. It's hard to come up with something that fits all guns. My solution is to stand the odd size guns back in the corner between the two racks and wrap bungees around them and the guns in the racks. That holds them well, but you do have to unwrap bungees to get the guns you want and you can't just drop them in a rack.

That's a great idea. If only my boat had a corner....

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

A corner isn't absolutely necessary. You can stand them at the end of the rack or in front of it.

It seems like there were some imaginative solutions in some old threads.

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

I think I could make something that would work for just about any gun. I wouldn't count on it looking as nice as the one Bill has, but it would be easy for anyone to make and easily replaceable and expandable.

you can custom make one which may cost you a bit more or buy one of these and do the cutouts
http://www.boatdiscounters.com/magt10313.html
this is a good way to go cause it adds a bit more functionality

I made mine out of starboard.

I also routed the slots to fit euro's.

This is the only pic I have that shows them. 4 guns on each side.

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

It seems to me that the difference between my racks and a similar rack for a Euro gun is the depth of the handle slot. Mine are for mid-handles, so the butt is on the floor of the rack and the handle is much higher, so the gun is steady because the butt can't move in any direction.

If you cut the slot deeper so that the handle is at the bottom, then there is no butt below it to hold it steady. I would think you would need something holding the gun steady at the top.

Re: Any ideas for a speargun rack/holder for a Boat?

Those racks look fantastic and versatile. However, if you don't have space or money, I use bungies that are set up on the gunnel with eyes. Easy to install and I never have a problem. Eyes cost a few bucks and bungie you can make yourself to whatever length for next to nothing. Cheap and effective and if you are not using them absolutely out of the way. I don't have any good pics to post, sorry.
