what happens if you dont mail it? I wonder, maybe if no one mails them in, maybe DFG will abandon this policing method?

Seeing obscene number of commercial traps around PV and the fact that DGF collects 7 times more from recreational lobster cards then from commercial lisences while subjecting us to this nonsence reporting makes me not want to send it at all.

How about demise of abalone? Was it recreational fishermen fault of commercial fishermen that sent them by thousands to Japan and other countries.

I did not catch any in 2008 how about that?

Scott you are supposed to fill it in and mail it back, the address is in san diego. It's on the card somewhere. I'm wondering if scrips is going to crunch the numbers?

You'll most likely get a ticket in the mail, as all of your info should have been submitted when you purchased the card.

Thanks for the reminder Chris.

Re: 2008 Lobster report cards due the end of january

The program is designed to allow the agency to determine who is not complying. Perhaps returning the report card from previous years may become a requirement to purchasing a license in following years?
The report card program is designed to be self-supporting and to provide for the collection of much-needed data regarding the recreational (i.e., consumptive) stakeholder catch and effort.
If fishery managers don't have adequate data, more precautionary (read "restrictive") management measures may be required.
It's up to us to show our support for effective management by accurately reporting our catch and effort and encouraging others to do so.

You will not get a ticket for not turning it in. They said if you lose it, just by another. There is no way they know if you lost it or not.

Plus how do you know people from mlpa and peta are not buying them up and filling out 7 bugs on every line in one area, making it strengthen their cause to close down an area. A lot of corruption out there.

Exactly. Either way the numbers can be used against us. If too many are being taken from an area, its being over fished, and it needs to be protected. If none are being taken from an area, it must be over pressured, and needs to be protected. The report card went up $.50 the second year already. It seems pretty ridiculous when a license is already pushing $50. I catch less all year than a single commercial trap. It seems that should be where they should be looking.

I would be more than willing to participate if they said it was a four or five year plan to try and do some research, and maybe get an idea how many lobsters we are taking. It seems that it is just a permanent way to squeeze us for a little more cash each year. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find my card from last year.

Re: 2008 Lobster report cards due the end of january

smallest sesson so far got my fair share but could of have bin more out there. this could lead[the new bug card]
to a closer to the bug sesh for a few years. by the time a bug is redy to harvest its between 5 to 7 years of age.lets hope the numbers all add up and we of all peaple dont get shut down on this run.
