Scott vs Scott

So I spoke with Scott (LBZdiversz)and challenged him on the phone to a friendly dive. One up, one down, safety first, let's get some big fish. These kids apparently are talented. Aside from thinking a monster Corbina was a WSB, he has killed a few impressive fish with his polespear, unless again it's BS.

Anyway, I challenged him to a dive on the weekend in the Laguna Area and have his number. I even confirmed his number by calling him back. POost those pics you showed me the other day Scott, what site was that? Flickr? I lost the link..

Don't listen to the haters, just prove you exist and don't flake on Saturday, heck, I'll leave Sunday open too in case the rain is too heavy for ya

Re: Scott vs Scott

Is your Dad going to be home? I don't want to be at your pad if parents come home and you guys have beers and stuff out, acting a fool. I'll go diving, but if I smell alcohol on your breath, I'm not going in the water. Too much of a liability..As a matter of fact I want to run it by your dad before we go out. Will he be home tonight? I don't want to get arrested, we discussed this on the phone remember. Dude, calm down a bit and people here will take you seriously. I saw your pics and think you're legit, but your posting looks rediculous, man.
I know you're young, and kind of upset people are clowning you, but you seriously are starting to sound like Secret Cove..

Just a word of advice for what its worth. I first took Austin Derry (SoCal Spearo) out on my boat when he was about 15 (as best I can recall). He got a 31 pound yellowtail on a paddy on his first trip to Catalina with me. (photo below). I got a big kick out of seeing him get started.

But he typed posts in standard English, using full words rather than text message abbreviations, and standard capitalization rules and proper grammar. He didn't talk about drinking or drugs in his posts.

Based on what I've read by you, I wouldn't touch you with a 10 foot pole, and I suspect that other adults may feel the same way. You sound like a liability suit waiting to happen.

You may feel like you wouldn't want to dive with me either, and that is just fine. I just wanted to let you know that the way you come across on the board may influence your opportunities for mentors. Take it for whatever you think its worth.

Re: Scott vs Scott

I talked to this kid, he is legit, in that he does exist, and is not Secret Cove, (he doesn't even know who he was) but like Bill said, scary proposition I've gotten myself into.
I'm gonna make you kids breathe in my face if you actually take me up on my offer to make sure you're not faded.. I do not want to get sued, I have no money anyway

I also saw a pic of his mangled polespear the goat managed to thrash it pretty good, did you get a new one? Was that a slip tip on it?

I asked the same question, because I would have pointed that out too, but he showed me a head pic that you can see he got it from the top, somehow made a hole in the skull kinda weird, right behind the head.... I guess he said he wrestled with it for quite a while, bearhugin it and all, LOL it almost owned him apparently, what's the story Lagunadiverz?
How did you get it from the top again?

Re: Scott vs Scott

Too much trouble to deal with this. If this kid has been hinting around about drinking and so forth why even risk it? Why even give him your time? I also understand teaching kids the sport.

But if alchohol has been an issue you shouldnt even try. This kid isnt trying to act normal so why should we try to help.

HE SEEMS TO BE DOING FINE ON HIS OWN.

damn Bill, I hate all the "cryptic" posts, why do you always have to beat around the bush
