Ice Freediving, Interesting?

Hey I found this on the net. Ice freediving? I don't know, but I like warm water. Interesting, though.

Loved the shots of them walking upside down on the ice, looks like fun. Nice find.

Looks like fun! Overhead environment, ICE cold water, no fish, poor vis, one breath...Sweet. I bet the music was produced by the kids from SlumDog Millionaire.

Re: Ice Freediving, Interesting?

The things you will do in the middle of winter when you become bored. To those that have never gone through the ice and then stood on the ice stripped down and dried off and gottten dressed. Words can not describe the mental unbalanced condition required to do this. The water was 70 degrees Sunday and I stayed on the boat and watched the others go looking for Manatees, it seemed like to much work to put on my dry suit.

Re: Ice Freediving, Interesting?

I met some dudes from Illinois who did ice freediving...looked like the stupidest thing in the world. Good way to get killed. I mean, think about it: you make a hole in the ice and dive in...one way in, one way out. Not to mention that the water was just above freezing (read: total shock to your face or anything close to exposed). And what were they doing in the icy water? Shooting carp. Now that's what I call plain stupid.

Please do not try this at home, and if you do, please for God's Sake, use locking carabiners!
