simple gun for a friend.

Just about finished with this gun. Went with a simple design but hopefully he'll kill lots of fish with it!

Nice! Hooked on the Shapelock yet? I'll bet that fits like a glove.

Re: simple gun for a friend.

Yeah this was the second time I've used Shapelock, and man is it awesome. I don't think I'll build a gun without it ever again...at least not for myself. I was really looking forward to mixing some colors in, but he just wanted white so white it is. Next time I guess!

Re: simple gun for a friend.

Got it finished late last night and we took it out today...turned out his first shot with the gun produced his first grouper

Still needs some modification though.

Re: simple gun for a friend.

Not really, when I built my first gun I was 19, and had absolutely no wood working experience (I still am pretty much clueless). I knew only what I had read on the Internet. I bought a laminated blank from Ken Jones, a trigger and handle from aimrite, and a router and router table from Lowe's. The only other tools I used/needed was a set of chisels, my dads cordless drill, a hack saw to shape the muzzle, and lots of sand paper. It turned out OK, and shot some fish too!

If your thinking about building your own, just do some searches. There are some very informative threads that have detailed, step by step instructions (I believe one of them was by Prater). Its really not as hard as it seems. Good luck!
