Destin Area Kayak Spearfishing Help

Hey Guys, Anyone know of any decent kayak spots that I can take advantage of while I'm in town? Don't plan on bringing the boat, but would love to do some spearfishing while I'm there.
Thanks

The Miss Louise tug is about 1 mile off Henderson Beach. I haven't been there yet, but plan to go while I'm in Destin in June. I'll try to find the link to my thread from earlier this month.

Try google earth (divespots.com) for approximate coordinates, but you'll definitely need sonar to locate exact spots. Or just look down for fish in the water, then dive there.

I've never speared from a kayak, but most spots will be at least a mile off the beach and more than that from the pass which would seem to be a bit far to me.
The Miss Louise is probably the most popular dive site here, but you should find some legal black snapper on it, but nothing too big.

There's also the Jetties. Most say you can't spear there, but I've heard otherwise. Funny rules for spearing at Jetties. Only within the last 500 yards of a Jetty that extends at least 1500 yards from the coast. It's a technicality, but another diver posted a thread about the local law enforcement dropping his tickets when he showed up to court with measurements. I think he was including the finger jetty, or something.

Spearing that Jetty is completely illegal, it isn't anywhere near long enough no matter how you measure it. Read the law, measure it yourself with google earth and decide. Saying you know a guy on an internet forum that claimed he got his tickets dropped is a poor legal defense to poaching. Trying to get by on a technicality still makes you a poacher if your intent is to get away with something. The law is unambiguous.

Right on Capt Pat.

I've not had the pleasure of doing business personally with him yet but everyone speaks highly of Pat and if he says it's off limits then no way would any sane person fish there. I'm gonna be down in Destin this Sept/ Oct for my honeymoon.... any good spots? That is.... if I make it out of the room?

Re: Destin Area Kayak Spearfishing Help

Back to the OPs question. I'll be in Destin in mid-June in a boat barely bigger than a kayak and I've been trying to research. Miss Louise and the tanks are published #s close to shore. Anyone have any others?

BTW the jetties would still be a good dive even if no spearing is allowed.
