Not a 100 lb'er

The Miami guys took pity on me yesterday and took me out with them for a dive. Got some great fish and had blast with RjVeloso, Spearooo, and Achilles. Found one spot with a lot of activity towards the end of the day and we all shot some nice fish before a 10 ft Hammerhead came up and would not leave. Just at the end of the day looked down to see a big makcerel on the bottom in 40 ft cruising fast. Long shot with the Rabitech 140 and he was off at light speed taking the 7 liter float down and away. Rolando caught up with me and gave me the second gun and i cocked it while swimming as hard as possible and then swam him down and made a dive to 45ft and put one through his spine. Just as the second shaft was into him the first fell out. took him to IGFA down in FT. Lauderdale this morning and weighed in at 58 lbs. Great way to top off the end of a great day of diving with some good guys.

Cool Whatta Day

Great day in sub-optimal conditions. Thermocline was colder than my ex-wife on the "rag". Viz was no more than 25 feet. Yet, the cooler was filled to capacity with an undisclosed amount of fish for the infamous "fished out" Miami waters.

Here's just a fraction of the catch awaiting surgical procedures by Chief Surgeon Aquiles "Big Ears" Mas and JC "It smells so good" Brillenbourg (Spearoo).

Enjoy...

Talking Pancho and The Jack

Five Mexicans in their Pre-Cinco De Mayo celebrating mode were nice enough to give us plenty of ice for the Kingie...

Here's Pancho with a nice Amberjack shot by Cam...

Background are the "surgeons" and Cam with an Ice-cold Presidente beer...

Camerondo,
I thought his boat's name was the Cuban (C)raft. Nice fish. You guys gave the ocean turbots hell. Between that Yellow Jack and those, you almost have a Caymanian slam. All you need is a strawberry grouper to round it out. I hope you saved some for Mama Maggie, or she may kill you in your sleep next time she sees you!

I just have to make it for 30 more days before I can join you all in these adventures. Jeez, it is tough to miss out.

Great fish Cameron.
Beats the record by some 10#. Just don't eat it all, 'cause all the mercury could mess you up good. Congrats.

Scott, what about making this one pic of the week? I think this guy deserves some props.

Dive safe,

Gerald

The mack daddy

It was my turn to drive, and the guys had just told me to drop the hook bc we were over good bottom, as soon as it was hooked I hear Cam hollering something and see his float jetting toward the horizon with him giving chase. The pursuit lasted the better part of 30 minutes , with the float going under several times. I Almost pulled my back trying to get up the anchor bc by the time the fish was under controll the were just specs on the horizon. A ligth went off in my head, I tied the anchor rope to my dive float started the engine and off I went. I dropped Cam off the underwater camera and picked up RJ who at this point had already started to make his way back to the boat. And we came to the consensus that we had just experienced the perfect ending to a great day on the water.... A few pics later and we were on our way home.
Thanks Rolo for the invite, and thanks to Achilles and Cam for all the pointers.......They are top notch divers and great guys to boot.
one at the IGFA for posterity

Nice fish Cameron, it must have felt like you were on one of your worldly assignments say South America or something. Will we see this one in your video? It looks from the picture that you guys needed a longer cooler. Congratulations.
