Gosh, things have been terrible here. We had a storm which really screwed up visibility. I went out the other day and vis had dropped to about 50 feet so I just swam around for a bit. The water temp had dipped down to about 80 so I had to break out the rash guard for a little warmth.

God I love living in Hawaii now!!!!

Just kidding everyone. As many of you know, I've relocated and it is really funny here. The locals complain about bad vis when it dips to between 30'-40'. I hear them complain here and flash back to San D and OC diving when vis would hit 10' and we'd all go running to the beach to get some hunting in. Not to mention the water temps. You can tell who the visitors and locals are by scanning the beach. The locals are all wearing wetsuits!

If anyone will be heading out to Maui anytime soon, look me up. Got plenty of extra guns for anyone, so no worries if you didn't bring yours. Also, no fishing licenses needed!!!! The tuna are averaging about 60lbs!!!

Whats up Stodelle? Long time no see. I guess the surgery went well if youre diving around. We sure could use some of that vis here. Good luck out there!

Kyle, Knowing you, you would try! Just remember when you whaler over here that you promised another dive trip on it!! Rick will back that one up.

Yep, surgery went great. I can walk, dive, swim, surf, and do just about everything again.

I am going to maui this week actually 8 days. I am looking for a new gun and equipment but all i thave is 35 dollars so i dont think i will be getting anything this trip

But i am bringing all my snorkling gear! I am staying at Napili Point Resort. Do you know were this is if you do i would love to hear some info!
Ps do you need a wetsuit? i have no idea because i dive with 7mm 2 pc and a 3mm. I can stand pretty cold water

I went out yesterday for about 3 hours wearing nothing but but board shorts and a rash guard (for sun protection). My freedive computer showed 80 degrees.

Napili has some good freediving, but the waves do come in on occassion. There is a reserve up there where big ULUA (Giant Trevally) come in, along with ahi and more. There is a dive just south of you at Kaanapali called Black Rock. It is at the Sheraton and is a shore dive. You actually dive around a jutting lava rock formation that is basically a cliff dropping to about 25 feet. I highly reccomend it, especially if you are an experienced freediver. I say this because the tourists get scared and stay in one specific area, but if you have stamina, you can go all the way around it. Once on the back, you'll see honu (sea turtles), Puhi (eels), He'e/Tako (octopus) and sometimes mantas.

Also, not to add any fear, but we've been getting a lot of tiger sightings up that way, including a fatality about 3 weeks ago in Honokowai (about a mile from Napili). Just use common sense and don't go if the vis/water is murky.

If you can drive south, dive the Ahihi-Kinau reserve. Abnormally clear water and fish up the okole..........

You just stare that big sucker right back in the eye and you remember what old RickDawg always says at a time like that. "Have you paid your dues yet Rick? Yes sir,the check is in the mail."
