Could use some experienced eyes.

My buddy caught this halibut on Thursday. It bottomed out the 50 pound scale. Unfortunately he never got a final weight. It was 52 inches long. Any guesses?

Re: Could use some experienced eyes.

The charts that ladr mike posted are as good as you are going to get.. they are based on a lot of measurment...... Somewhere between 50 and 60 but most likely about 55#s

NICE!

Great fish! Caught as in H&L or caught with a spear shaft?

Re: Could use some experienced eyes.

The one in my avatar measured 54 1/8 inches. We used a digital scale that someone left on board. It showed 59lbs 13oz for mine. Not sure on accuracy of the scale, but was told that it was about right. 55lbs to 60lbs would be my guess for the one in question. It even looks a little fatter than mine. Very nice fish.
