Re: fs riffe mt 4s

you can still freedive with that gun its just a bit of a pain in the ass. its not buoyant after fired. Its also heavy and you feel the weight after a few hours. It is pretty accurate and nearly bullet proof. definitely better for scuba but I have shot wsb yt, and grouper with mine. Given a choice a wood gun is a better way to go but it can be done with mt.

Won't they exchange it for a different model?

Try posting this in the Gulf States section. They do a lot more spearing on SCUBA. Maybe someone over there would want this gun.

Re: fs riffe mt 4s

If it is never uesed, why not call Riffe directly and pay the difference.

It seems like a reasonable request. It might be worth pursuing.

Re: fs riffe mt 4s

Keep it! Keep it! Keep it!

1. Your wife gave it too you! That is a golden gun.
2. I have the Riffe Metal Tech 5 and I free dive all the time with it. Just got back from freediving in Baja and shot a mess of Yellow Tail. The biggest was 36 lbs.
3. Riffe sells an enclosed track insert for the metal tech. Get that. It will make the gun laser accurate.
4. Get some 2x4 wood and bolt it on the sides. Drill and fill the 2x4s with lead until the gun floats but up about 4 inches out of the water with the shaft in. (Shape hydrodynamic and paint black. Put fishing lure reflective tape spots on it. The lead mass will cancel out any kick when you shoot.)
5. When you shoot use a break away system. Let go of your gun, with the wood it will float but up.

I love my Riffe Metal Tech!!!!!!!!!! I also have the Riffe Na Ka Oui and the Riffe Euro 90. But when the big fish are around my Metal Tech is my go to gun!!
