Quick LJ report and looking for a buddy for tomorrow night
Hit La Jolla tonight with Luke (Impaler). Vis was great (~20ft), water was calm and the bugs were out... unfortunately 98% of them were shrimp sized and I missed 3 opportunities at legal bugs (Crap!). Saw lots of life- bugs, abalone, corbina, surf perch, calicos, you name it.
I'd really like to get out again tomorrow evening/night before the weather deteriorates, but Luke can't make it, so I was wondering if anyone else is interested in going out. You can either join me at the spot I dove tonight and I can try round 2, or we can go to some other spot of your choosing... I'm willing to dive from Mission Beach to Dana Point, but really I'd prefer to stay south of Oceanside. Shoot me a PM and we'll exchange cell numbers, etc. Thanks! Update: Ended up getting out with Hunter (hhough853)- he doesn't have many posts here, but I can vouch for him, he's a cool guy. Conditions were so nice that we spent about 3 hours in the water (6:20-9:20pm). Saw a MONSTER cabezon (I'd say 5-7 pounds is being conservative), some bubba bugs (that were too smart to come out and play) and ended the dive with a barely legal bug for dinner tomorrow. Also, on the way in I spotted a short halibut (2 dives in a row this has happened). I checked him out and played with him a bit while I tried to decide if he was legal. Eventually we went our separate ways. Its nice out there, hope everyone got a chance to get in before the swell arrives (if not, tomorrow might be your last chance!) Re: Quick LJ report and looking for a buddy for tomorrow night
Where were you at in LJ? I made it out about 3:30 at the beach just east of CP but west of Boomers. Vis varied between 20ft to hazy 15. Managed two bugs, two scallops, one kelp crab and an urchin. My buddy shot a calico so we had surf and surf as opposed to surf and turf. After this we went to a party were I started to get my drink on and build enough confidence to talk to this chica that needed el hueso. Before I made my move, he tells me we have to go because the girl he brought car's alarm is going off some 20 miles away ( her friend called her). So, depending on how hung over I am in the am I might pm you about diving.
P.S. His name on here is Squawk7500 if any of you feel the need to harass him via pm. |

I'd like to meet up around 6, so we're in the water at sunset, then dive till maybe 8-ish (or later) |
