deception pass shore access?
I really want to go up to deception pass and I am wondering if there are many good spots to freedive from shore. I could take a boat but it is about a 50 mile run from here and heading into the bad weather i don't know if I want to do that. I have heard that deception Island has some scallops and I'm wondering if theres any places form shore that I could find some? I am also just curious about a general idea of what the diving is typically like up there, I've never been.
Thanks |

Re: deception pass shore access?
Deception pass has some decent shore access from the state park, but you have to plan the tides carefully. I have done both shore and boat dives there.
I have not noticed too many scallops there though. If you are looking for pinks from shore, I suggest diving Skyline wall up in Anacortes. Great shore access with a moderate surface swim and tons of pinks. Current there is also a lot more forgiving. The best spot I have been though is Deception Island. But you will need either a boat or a good scooter to get there. |
