Snowboard cases?

I am going to Hawaii on Sunday. I would like to borrow someones snowboard case for the trip. Everything that I have read, suggests that a snowboard case is the way to go to protect a gun and fins from damage on the flight.

Would anyone be willing to let me borrow their case for a week? I will drive just about anywhere in SoCal to pick it up.

Thank you,
Darren

I'll help you out. I've got the same as Joe and can bring it to work, Irvine near the airport, for you to pick up any day this week.

Darren, you can borrow my Armor speargun bag. Fully padded and your gear will fit in it, give me a call and let me know if you want to borrow it.

Re: Snowboard cases?

I've got a big one that you can borrow if you get it out of the rafters in the garage.

Re: Snowboard cases?

Mine may be more than you want. Its a "RadCap" case for two boards. Its padded inside, has wheels on one end, and handles on the end of the case and the middle, is 78 in. X 15 in. X 8 in. high, and weighs 20 lb. empty. You can get two big guns, fins, float lines, wet suits and everything else in it.

I got it for a Mexico trip many years ago. I really should sell it.

Re: Snowboard cases?

Thank you everyone for your offers. I am borrowing Bob's Sportube #3.

I must say, for all of the drama that happens on Spearboard, I haven't ever met a group of people as willing to help others out as I have found here. It has been one year to the day since I joined Spearboard. I have been given a wealth of knowledge from so many people here. I have been invited out on boats, taken to secret dive spots, been taught techniques in hunting, swimming, diving and breath holding. People have lent me spear guns, float lines, floats, knives, Sportubes...

Thank you to everyone for making this past year so incredible.

Darren

Re: Snowboard cases?

Hey Joe do you normally get that on as one of your checked bags w/o additional charges (oversize) etc.?
The reason I ask is I have a Sporttube 2. I wanted to buy the 3 for the extra space but seem to remember that if I put a gun any longer than 48" or so in it that it would be over most carriers length x width x height allowance.
Just curious if an upgrade to a little more space is going to cause me a lot of headache.

Re: Snowboard cases?

I've had good luck on Alaska Airlines. So far so good as long as the weight is under 50lbs.

All other airlines will nick you as soon as you pass that magic 62" linear inches (combined) regardless of weight... Sporttube 3 WILL exceed 62" combined.
