Re: Spetton Wetsuit?

Just picked mine up yesterday. Very well made suit and camo pattern is sick. Haven't used it yet, but from what I've researched it should be plenty for Miami winter. It's actually a 3mm suit, I believe it is labeled as 2.5mm because of the blind stitch. Check out http://www.nautilusspearfishing.com/ located in Miami, and talk to Andrew, excellent customer service and prices, has the spettons in stock.

Re: Spetton Wetsuit?

I used one for the summer up here in new england. Its my second spetton suit and I would highly recommend it. For a 2.5mm it is a very warm and flexible suit.

hope that helps

I used my spetton 2.5mm for the first time yesterday. Just used the top and it was very very warm. Jumped in and no water rushes in. I was used to my closed cell were cold water would rush in and then get warm from body heat. This suit is sweet, very comfortable and easy to move around.

Do you really think so.?, the water temperature will go down around 10 more dergrees later this winter (Jan-Feb), I love the camo this wetsuit has but im worried about paying that amount of cash for a suit thats not going to keep me warm during the coldest months..

Hey Berry,
Can you explain how it is actually a 3mm suit? It's not that I doubt you but I need to know 100% that this is true before I thrown dwn for it. Also, What;s blind stitch mean?

I used the top of the suit yesterday and it was hot. I kind of would of liked the water to be a little colder and this is coming from a Florida boy who hates the cold water. I think the suit is a little warm for the temps right now but should be perfect for the cooler temps of winter.

When I was researching suits, I asked Behslayer who helped designed the suit about the 2.5mm actually being 3mm. He said that 2.5mm was the minimum needed for the blind stitch, but they used 3mm material to give a little extra space. I believe he said a blind stitch is were the threading doesn't go all the way through the material. I was also told the same from Andrew at nautilus. Maybe one of them will chim in help explain. This suit is definetly worth the money in my opinion.

Re: Spetton Wetsuit?

I will have to agree with berry thiis past wed. I was out wearing the full suit and for this water temp right now it way hot I would have to pop the seal under to my chin to let some cool water in. I don't see a prop with this suit when Jan-feb rolls around. My 2 cents only. Dive safe

Re: Spetton Wetsuit?

The HexSkin 2.5mm Ultraspan/Cell suit is actually a little thicker than 2.5mm. We added a few mm in order to give a little more room for the Blindstitch. A blindstitch is a stitch that goes through the outer nylon (ultraspan) surface and goes into the foam of the neoprene about 2-2.5mm and then loops back up and out again through the outer surface. When the suit is over 2.5mm there should be no evidence of the stitch on the inside hence a "Blind" stitch.
The inner surface which in this case is Open cell, is aligned and then glued shut. The seal is waterproof, and flexible.

Compared to the Nylon 1.5mm Hexskin Camo suits, these are the higher end Spetton Hexskin Suits. These are EXTREMELY Flexible, and much like wearing a skin of Jello.

Here's a few images from yesterday. I started off in the 2.5mm but after a while the 80 degree water was too hot and I put on the HexSkin Lycra top, which was perfect.

Re: Spetton Wetsuit?

Nice fish Behslayer. You right, it does feel like a skin of jello. Very comfortable. I have nothing but great things to say about this suit. Thanks for the help.
