Putting him in a MS jail will pretty much ensure the desired treatment, from the other inmates.

That is great news...I am pretty sure he has been the suspect for quite a while but the cops were keeping it quiet...

I agree with you makomonster but there are certain people on this board that will feel sorry for the child murderer and think he needs a fair and impartial trial by his peers of other child murderers.

And I'm one of them. I don't feel sorry for him if he did it, but I think he needs a fair and impartial trial to make sure he did it. Its sort of a basic tenant of our justice system, and it amazes me when people haven't head about it or want to eliminate it.

The 6th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States addresses it.
Quote:
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district where in the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.
I guess you'd rather just organize a lynch mob, but luckily the Constitution protects us from people like you.

Also, I doubt too many members of the jury are likely to be child murderers.

yea bill he needs a fair and impartial trial . but one that once he is sentenced . does not have a endless list of appeals . if sentenced to death .that it be carried out quickly and not drug out on death row for years while he studys law in prision . while being locked up a tax payer expense to the tune of 50 thousand dollars a year

If you get sentenced to death, go ahead and waive your right to appeal. I'm not waiving mine. My life is valuable.

I wont get sentanced to death because im not planing on killing any one ,especialy a child,I hope you never had a family member or friend murdered Bill, but if you have and you still fell like you do i guess im waisting my typing, but if you never lost any one to a violent murder then you cant feel the same way i do,If god forbid you lose one of your kids or grand kids to some scumbag then let me know if you feel that same.I highly doubt it.

In a different thread a couple of days ago, someone presented evidence that one out of ten people convicted of murder is innocent. Even if that is unlikely, is one out of 50 fine with you- just collateral damage? Its not fine with me, especially if that one out of 50 is me.

But I'm the one who wasted typing, because you ignored the fact that the 6th Amendment calls for a fair trial. Apparently you want to substitute your judgement for the justice system. If that's true, you are exactly what the founding fathers had in mind when they included those safeguards against summary justice.

I can't tell you for sure how I'd feel if one of my loved ones were murdered. I'd certainly hope that I would want the system to make sure it caught and punished the right guy rather than just any old person. After all, catching and convicting the wrong guy leaves the real murderer out there. But if I were to go nuts and just want to strike out at the most convenient target and skip a trial, I hope the justice system would keep me from doing it. If it didn't, we are nothing but brutish savages.

Edit- BTW, I agree with the title of the thread. I hope they got him. I just object to your wanting to disregard the constitution and not be sure they got him.
