This is the other half of the e-mail. It was too many characters for one post.
Deep is good. Also pay attention to the shoreline, I often find fish where shore substrate changes dramatically ie from sand to rock. Those are the best pointers I can give from my experience. I have not gotten to get in the water since before christmas due to going on vacation and having to work weekends. It's tough to get in the water after work and be effective when the days are so short. Jan 23 and 24 are a Wed. and Thurs. Are those the days you will be here? I typically work during the week but If so I will see if I can fenagle getting in the water with you.

I may be interested in the Abalone trip. What kind of water temps and vis should be expected in Norcal in April?

    Talk to you soon.

Hey Terry, I tried to send an e-mail to the address you gave and I got a send failure reply back. So I copied and pasted it below. Send me an e-mail so I have your correct contact- giocappelli240@gmail.com

Hey Terry, I just got your message. Funny, I met up with Justin and Shane yesterday.. I let them use one of my kayaks today and they will be coming over for some striper tacos tonight. They didn't produce any fish yesterday unfortunately, hopefully today will be more fruitful for those guys. As far as striper fishing goes down here, now is not the best time of year to go looking for them. There just aren't a lot of them up by Willow. Where they are? They are thermaly restricted to the upper part of the river in the summer when the water is warm but now that it is cool out, they have 62 miles of river to roam. I do find fish more often in spots where there is a drastic depth change.

Gio, hows it going, great I hope. How has the fishing been? I have made plans to be at willow beach the last week of January 23/24 time frame. I will have my kayak this time. Any suggestions on locations depths, surface features that you have found to be consistent with the presence of fish? A couple of guys from the last trip are there now, Justin and Shane you might run into them. Hope you have time to get back. Here is my email address, its more reliable to get a hold of me this way. Gio, Hey great to hear from you. We all had a great time and learned a lot about the area. My son Tyler was the only one to take a striper that day. I did see one that gave me a poor chance to shoot it then it took off. I should have taken the shot. I was having a really difficult time with a sinus squeeze but still managed a few dives and our time was limited. Sorry to hear you lost one, that always sucks. I am excited to come back with my dive kayak as soon as I can and see a bit more of what Willow Beach has to offer. And of course would love to bring home a couple of fish. As a kid I would fish with my family for Atlantic stiper when we lived on Long Island and remember how wonderful the fish was to eat. Hope the fresh water variety is just as good. Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself. It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope a few of us can get back down there soon. Terry Reist
