Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

I guess you could try a length of JBL Sea Vine which is designed as a stretchy float line. It reminds me of the stuff on Occy straps and has the rubber stretch element inside and a woven sheath...

Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

Well they are called "shock" cords. We had them on closed muzzle guns that don't need a line tensioner to hold the spear on the gun. You certainly need one on a closed muzzle gun. The realisation of...

Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

The purpose of the shock cord is to minimise the acceleration on the line connection to the gun as the fish hits the afterburners, as a super strong jerk can part the line. I remember seeing a gun...

Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

Where is the shock cord in your rig? Usually it is the shooting line attachment to the muzzle and that should never touch underwater obstructions. To toughen it up I guess you could put a...

Re: 22 cal speargun

There are a number of the guns still around, the last of them were made in New Zealand when Tapmatic sold the production tooling with existing parts after about 10 years of making the guns. As...

Re: 22 cal speargun

They work OK but are limited by the ammo you can carry, plus dropping cartridges if you get a case of the fumbles is always a possibility. The guns did not quality as firearms in the USA as they...

Re: Belt reel to gun connection

Well as you know it is surprising just how quickly things can instantly turn pear-shaped, like a line loop encircling your wrist at the wrong moment and the fish suddenly making a last ditch, no...

Re: Belt reel to gun connection

Being jerked through the water with your arms trailing like a trolling lure's strands and being unable to reach a belt buckle and praying the line will break is not a good place to be. No fish or gun...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Rather than sighting along the barrel spearfisherman often judge the travel arc that the spear describes and let the fish swim into it. This is convergent line shooting, your eye line to the fish and...

Re: SEA HORNET Clone from CHINA!!

I only found this today when I was looking for something else. I donít see anyone selling them yet and I think they are looking for orders as you can get a minimum order of 10. Might be worth...

Re: SEA HORNET Clone from CHINA!!

Well here is the answer and looks like they have now decided to do the gun with a “camo” barrel!

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

But what is wrong with it, is it just the lack of washers which a replacement will have installed? Seems likely from the fact that pushing the levers laterally in the sear box and it worked OK.

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

The Riffe eurogun uses a forward mech similar externally to its standard square shaft tail mech, whereas most euroguns now use reverse mechs, but not all of them. The rear of the spear tail and the...

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

A reverse trigger mechanism not made for euroguns is the Australian Sea Hornet and its American counterpart the Biller. Unlike most reverse trigger mechanisms these are cam lockers that use close...

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

I figured that you might have bought the gun second-hand and it is very likely the spacing washers have fallen out after deteriorating. The forward latching trigger mechanisms are very reliable but...

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

I think that the mechanism must have had spacer washers as usually the levers are close flanked by the housing walls or you need spacers which are often nylon washers. Washers can crack and break...

Re: Rebikoff Ratchet Cocking Speargun

The Rebikoff gun failed to sell at 600 USD. Not surprising as that included shipping which would be around 130 bucks for a heavy gun given the big alloy castings used, and maybe more.

Re: Mythicon Erevos fail to latch shaft

All I know about that mechanism is that the trigger operates a control rod that runs back to the rear mounted mechanism that you can adjust to change the trigger position with respect to the handle...

Re: Rebikoff Ratchet Cocking Speargun

We can see why Rebikoff inverted the gun compared with his earlier proposal as it means that the ratchet lever pivot did not have to be on a yoke that flanked the sliding barrel with the pivot being...

2 tablespoons fresh garlic,...

Carp Burgers?

Not a fish that I would spear, but as Carp have reached plague proportions in rivers and lakes has anyone tried them in a fish burger? Slimy creatures with quite a few bones is there a recipe for...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

That is right, especially if you have never shot a gun before or have been using euroguns. Many guns today people expect to shoot with one hand, but before they became popular many guns needed two...
