beginners should be warned to make sure a big flattie is dead before stringing it on your belt..I didn't once and it promptly bit me on the ass.....fortunately, I was wearing a 1/4" inch suit....

I went to Catalina over memorial too! If you want a very good halibut spot try whites landing. They take charter boats there. I got one nice calico and a sandy as well both cooked up to be pretty good eating. My avatar is the calico
