Re: Perfect for my shaft--a wet grinder

files.. grinders... whats so bad about a wet cement?? Its creap, easy, and pleasurable. worked its way into my post dive ritual: grab a beer, gut the fish, wash the gear and yard, then grind on the wet sidewalk.

Man if I started grinding on the side walk I would get kicked out of my neighborhood! (Just kidding! It actually works very well! I do it on my dry garage floor also! Makes it nice because you can spin the shaft as you go!

Re: Perfect for my shaft--a wet grinder

As an old time tool and die maker, I just dipped the metal repeatedly in cold water (do it quickly), only taking off a little at a time, which is what you want to do anyway with an expensive slip tip...I have both a portable grinder (Harbor Freight) and a stationary grinder made from a washing machine motor...The stationary is a lot better, as you can hold the tip with both hands for more precise grinding...on the water, I carry both, a rough and a smooth file for quickie touchups...
