Where to go in P-cola

I'm looking at for some easy dives with my 12 year-old son this weekend. I need some suggestions from the natives.

Re: Where to go in P-cola

I'm bringing my boat so offshore but limited to 100' or less. A little bit of spearfishing would be a bonus but I'm mainly just trying to get my son more comfortable with boat dives in the gulf.

What about the Navarre pier? It was seriously messed up by hurricanes so nobody's using it, it's easy to find, pretty shallow and you should find some pretty cool stuff to look at.

Tons of stuff with a boat....give me a distance and a depth range and I can clue you in.

Cell phone is 850-450-6550 if ya want to call I can give you too much info!

there's anything from the Mass (Massachusetts) in 28 feet and a dredge frame in 28 feet a balast pile from a 1700's ship to tugs, to barges to bridge rubble to tanks to...well you get the idea

Re: Where to go in P-cola

Thanks for all of the information Billybob. We had a couple of good dives on the Liberty ship and the Russian freighter, Daniel was stoked. Shot a couple of nice mangroves on the liberty ship and a small gag on the freighter. Unfortunately a large greysuit took our gag (another side show for my son). Overall a great day in the Gulf. Another bonus was the short run from the dock to the sites and back, 40 miles round trip. A typical trip here in Ms. is 75-100 mi. Thanks again Jeff.

Re: Where to go in P-cola

Yeah, we stopped at the three barges first trying to stay shallow but it was covered up with 5-6 boatloads of h&l fishermen. We stopped by the shop for tanks first and then right down the road to Navy Point by the bridge. Looking forward to doing it again as soon as time allows. You should come on over and do some rig dives with us. Good snapper and ajs plus the occasional cobia. Can't wait til the first. Give us a call or pm if interested.
