Just wondering what your thoughts are on this, does anyone in the group own one ?Thinking about buying one after that guy in Jupiter got bit by a bull shark last week.

Re: Shark shield
It will only deter a shark in curious cruising mode coming closer into the range of the shark shield, nothing will stop the shark, when the shark's already going for it .

Re: Shark shield
The Shark Shield is definitely a deterrent, especially when a shark first encounters its electric force field.

Re: Shark shield
I have a Sharkbanz but have not yet had the chance to use it. I prefer staying on the sand at beaches and when on the bottom, I'm never not armed with something a little more protective in my mind but from the video I've seen it seems to be effective.

Re: Shark shield
I have one and have been using for several years. I love it. Everyone always complains about the sharks on my boat, except me. Although, maybe my eye sight just sucks.

Do you wear on your ankle or on a float, or something else. I want to strap one to my 10 yr old. |

Re: Shark shield
On my ankle, you do not even know it's there. We have a few divers that don't wear them and if they come up and there is a shark o them I take a dock line and hang the SS from a cleat while they are boarding.
If a pack of jacked up ones are really on us we lift bag our fish anyway, the sharks want your fish not you, absolute worse case scenario the .223 are on and used as a last resort which has not happened since wearing the SS, I have not had any come in close to me and that was while still holding my stringer. Its the ones you don't see that are the problem |

Re: Shark shield
Diving by myself in murky water forced me to pull the trigger on one. The positive outcomes are out there. Once in awhile you can get a slight zap like a spark plug wire but not even thinking about sharks has helped a ton on my bottom time.

Re: Shark shield
Its also funny when you zap your buddy, I dragged mine over my buddies back a few weeks ago with out even realizing it, he was yelling at me underwater but I thought he was talking about a big gag that swam by. My 16yr old dives with us and laughs his ass off if someone picks it up and gets zapped, sometimes they get turned on and forget to be turned off.

Re: Shark shield
Is the shark shield a burden at all? Would it increase the likelihood of getting caught in kelp if I'm hunting the beds?

Re: Shark shield
Thanks for the reply, but I'm not necessarily looking to buy one....yet. I would just like some feedback from those who have one as to whether or not it hinders their diving ability/ creates a potential risk (i.e. getting caught in kelp beds). I primarily dive heavy kelp beds and the last thing I want to deal with when I'm trying to surface from 50 ft. is a shark shield tangled up in kelp.
