No, they don't. I know that Joseba Kerejeta is a fireman. They mostly have normal jobs.

I can speak about the italian team..... they have jobs and spearfish in their sparetime, but scouting trips and competitions are usually sponsored for the real good ones,and, for international events it is the National Fishing Federation ( FIPS ) that pays, as it has a section and funding for spearfishing. I believe that most european countries teams are forged by lack of fish, usually bad weather and cold waters 9 months a year and necessity to dive deep with a good rythm. Then the way National team is selected plays its role.

You are wandering in the things he says one thing to go fishing on our own and other is fishing championships, two different worlds if, we can be good fishing on our outings, but not good champions for these other completely different skills required
