Question About Shoot Position Results
Hi ,
recently I try one grip which is very thin 1 inch width and I have a question regarding the results of my shooting position. When I rotate my right hand to the left, the gun shoots to the right, and when I rotate it to the right, the gun shoots to the left. Can you please clarify how this affects shooting up and down? Specifically, does this mean that if my hand is lower on the grip, the gun will shoot upward, and if my hand is higher, it will shoot downward , also I don't advice to use the very thin handle grip (less than 30 mm in width ) it may work with firearm but in speargun its a big headache to adjust your shoot . |

Re: Question About Shoot Position Results
I'm gonna say yes, based on physics, if you move your hand down on the grip, the gun will shoot higher.
Why: When the gun is fired, it starts pushing back on your hand. This creates a pivot point where the whole gun gains torque force and begins to rotate around the pivot point of your grip. The muzzle will be pushed up, and the butt would be pushed back & down if the handle is below the spear as it always is. You could feel this torque if you just push the muzzle of the gun against a wall. The further down the handle your grip is, the more torque will be applied, and the greater the torque, the greater the rotational acceleration (and hence the amount of muzzle rise in the given time it takes for the spear to leave the muzzle). The muzzle pushes up on the spear the whole time the spear is in the gun. Interestingly, from the time the spear is free of the bands but not out of the muzzle, the muzzle is actually causing the spear to tip down in the front a bit. I don't think that would overcome the additional impact rise created by the lower grip. Anyways, that's my hypothesis on what would happen. Not sure how much the effect would be, though. This rise can probably be controlled by a firm grip with a wide hand, because you should be able to counteract the muzzle rise torque with your hand to a degree. |
