Re: Teak
You might want to check with your local boatyards (think Yachts). They often do upgrades and you might score some used hand rail or cabin trim, which makes for excellent blanks because it's always top quality teak.
You can buy teak on line, but it's hard to know what you're getting. And, of course, there's your local lumber yard, or lumber yards dealing in "exotic woods". |

Re: Teak
Wood Guy Thank you . I've bought online a couple times with no issues. Just seems difficult to find in my area. Just looking for alternative suppliers. I've enjoyed your build posts in the past.

Re: Teak
Charlotte North Carolina during the week and Oak Island North Carolina on the weekends I have found several sources on eBay but I am afraid I am paying way too much.

Re: Teak
I would be hesitant to buy online unless it was what you see is what you get. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the seller regarding tightness and direction of grain. I might just be conditioned by my dad though, I used to have to sit there at the home depot woodpile with him for a half hour cherry picking stud lumber from the bottom of the stack.
