Your best bet would be to just kick off the beach and leave the kayak at home. That is a long and steep walk with a kayak. Also, there is access at strands as well, which is off of selva and pch. Dont hesitate to look at the bed at brook street in laguna. That holds fish from time to time and has easy access and close kick from the beach. There is a bed as well at crystal cove that is very easy to access from the beach. Just a few other options. As far as viz, you never really know around here till you go. The conditions change so fast around here its amazing. And it can also be a big difference within just 100 yards so dont get unmotivated to look around

Ah man if I got this message earlier, I woulda definitely been out there. I was planning on leaving here early but the reports they gave didnt sound too convincing.

Thanks a bunch for your report and honesty. I really appreciate it. Coming from Hawaii, I dont know much about the waters here. Is there any chance you can give me a few hints on when the water should be clean (waves, current, tide, etc). I know that hawaii depends a lot on waves and wind, but here it seems like it could be clean even with surf.

One last question...Is it legal to swim out from Salt Creek? Or is there a closer launch point for a kayak than DP harbor?

Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

    Jason
