Re: Pelaj mechanism internals photo?

They failed because they made the tolerances too close and used glass filled nylon which actually swells in salt water over time which caused them to stick or lockup. Problem was fixed by changing...

Re: very interesting aproach on rollers!!

I have seen this and wondered what the advantage is. Alemanni-sub is using it too so it has to be for good reason.

I've been using a seawolf double roller in the 115 and that gun is incredible,...

Re: New 130 Magnum

Very nice Seal! How long did the mold production take? Looks as though it would have to be in several pieces, 5 perhaps?
Is that a 6k plain weave?

Re: Gun weight and shaft choice

Anyone else having the new cressi scarlet rubber snapping bad? I retied my band 3 times in one day before giving up. I ordered if from subprof late last year. It is not the bridle inserts, I tried my...

Re: First fully synthetic speargun

It is all one piece, just had an extra piece of foam in a different colour for the handle. Still carved it out by hand.

Re: First fully synthetic speargun

Cheers, was a nice red emperor of 12.75kg. I haven't missed a fish with this gun yet, touch wood. Shoots very very nice.

Re: First fully synthetic speargun

It's not cheap. I paid about $240 for a sheet 1200x2400x15mm

Re: First fully synthetic speargun

Thanks guys!

The foam in the middle is a composites core material, very easy to shape with a sanding block by hand. You can even cut it with a stanley knife. It does provide a tiny bit of strength...

First fully synthetic speargun

Hi All,

I have finally finished my first completely synthetic/composite speargun. With a few dozen PM's to Seal and Facebook messages to Yavorsub I was finally able to get a gun off the ground....

Re: Abellan Denton 130 test ... amazing power + accuracy !!!

What an absolute boat of a gun. How hard would that be to swing in the water? The 120 was already too big for me, especially up the muzzle end.

Re: Hottest Ulusub 140RH band set-up?

@TheGreek where do you find the best place to get the cressi Scarlet rubber? Diveshop.gr used to have long rolls but now only 1.5m pieces

Re: Classic power-twin brothers for fellow friends

Hi Seal,

I am friends with the person who is getting these guns. I can't wait to see them in person soon!

I am curious how much do they weigh? Are they water ballasted?
Yavor said he is...

Re: Bleutec Raptor vs Acid

Because the raptors are massive and fat compared to the acid. The sharp edges on the raptor are prone to chipping as well.

Re: The best deep diving gun

Pathos mechanism is designed to have the mono attached at the back of the spear... that will solve your problems of the spear being able to move to the sides. It seems mostly american mechanisms that...

Re: my new rollergun

Spearq8 I think the benefit of the rollers with the lack of recoil means you can use a thicker shaft such as 8mm and still remain accurate and thus more punch at range. Where a traditional gun the...

Re: The best deep diving gun

jstiver09 if you are diving 50m you aren't diving alone. Normally you would have 4 people involved. One driving the boat sitting on the mark in current, one person diving, one person giving the diver...

Re: The best deep diving gun

Let's be honest the Denton is an absolute boat of a gun. Huge barrel and not that easy to move in the water. Designed for long shots on long dives waiting for fish.
Meandros reel, made really well...

Re: Bleutec Raptor vs Acid

I've held both in my hands side by side, never shot in the water. Both carbon guns and my preference would be the acid, much slimmer and not as sharp an edge which is really prone to chipping on the...

Re: Pathos 130cm enclosed track railgun

Looks to be a 45 woven twill sock, not something you normally find in a prepreg. I'd imagine a few unidirectional fibres may have been used as well.

It's not like you to try something different :)
I have some hybrid fabrics similar to this I'm going to use on the final layer of some new guns.

Re: A reverence to the classics

Beautiful work as always Seal, you can hardly see the join from the split mold ;)

Is there any reason you used the plain 1x1 weave carbon instead of 2x2 twill weave? The twill goes over complex...

Re: Gladiator 100 Euro

Beautiful work as usual!

I have a question, why would you use 3 x 13mm bands instead of say 2 x 16mm bands? Surely you could achieve a similar level of power and avoid loading three times and...
