New to group

Hello All,

I recently moved to Melbourne, Fl from Atlanta. I am looking at getting involved with Spearfishing and would like to find out how to get started. Please let me know the best way.

Thanks,
Marcus

Marcus,

Welcome my friend! Go simple first. Go to Walmart, get the $20 fins, snorkel and mask. Find a $30 pole spear and that will at least get you in the water and experience what south Florida has to offer.

In the mean time...... speak to as many people as you can, dive with as many people as you can and visit as many shops as you can until you find exactly what you want. Then spend the money.

You will be pleasantly surprised what can be accomplished in the water with a minimum investment.

If you are ever in Jupiter, look me up and I'll put you on a few fish!

Best of luck to ya, its a great sport.

Re: New to group

Thank you all for the info....I have been asking every person I talk with about getting out in the water. I don't have a boat, so will need to hook up with someone one day to experience the adventure. If anyone knows of charter companies or pay by the day boats, let me know.

Thanks again for all the replies...
