Re: Ray Odor
Rest in Peace, Ray. I stopped by his house back in 2013. My buddy was getting into spearing and we went over to pickup a pole spear in person, hoping to get 'The Tour'. We got it and more! He had more sunken treasure trinkets than a T-shirt and Sandal shop in the Keys. We spent half the day there listening to his stories and sharing our own, one of the best experiences in my life! You will be missed and we will keep you in our thoughts.

Re: Ray Odor
Ray was a spearfishing legend who was loved by many. I remember our wonderful times together Ray. You were the best old salt of the sea. May you rest in Eternal Peace. Thanks for letting us know Dan. Tony

Re: Ray Odor
Ray started scuba diving way back, years ago. He told me that before the Sheriffs Department had their rescue team they called him. A young man had gone exploring a spring and never returned. Ray went into that dark cave to retrieve the body. When he did find him, the body was stiff and Ray had to be creative bringing it back through the tight holes. He told me how sad it was when he surfaced and there were the kids parents.
I went with Ray on a couple of his commercial diving trips. Sometimes when a ship would strike bottom in Tampa Bay, they'd call Ray to do a survey. Once, one of the power company ships drug a buoy that was marking the channel. Ray went down into that dirty water to find it for them. Here's a pic He was well into his 70's when he was doing the commercial work |

Re: Ray Odor
I also was fortunate to get the Tour, definably how a legend is started. When you look up spearfishing, his name is on the top of the list. RIP

Re: Ray Odor
RIP Ray! I never got the tour but I had a few conversations with him about slip on power head design when I first started making my own. He was always very helpful and seemed to be just a fantastic guy all around. He will be missed!

Re: Ray Odor
Ray Odor was one of the most unselfish people I have ever met. He would go way out of his way to please you even if there was no profit motive involved. He truly was a shining star in our sport.
