Re: 2008 Utah Spearfishing Tournament Series
my grandpa informed me that the lake was lowered last year, we all remember seeing the water too low to launch boats, and i thought it was a drought. according to his old homie its due to the construction of the dam and the changes with the highway right at the base of deer creek. so jordanelle is the lake that feeds deer creek and as i understand it has enough water to 'fix' deer creek. i didn't know they were controlling the flow(grandpa's homie is the flow controller i guess) to help with construction. so take this for whats its worth, maybe grandpa is getting too many cobwebs in the cabeza.
i think id prefer it to be low, no boats which sucks for diving but also is cool because some of the wakeboarders/drivers are dooshbags, to me a shoredive is worth it with no boat traffic and i assume viz will increase significantly. on a side note i might need the boat because colorado boys aint winnin shit in my lake!! |

Alan, i have a few questions for you if I may.
what area of the lake did you dive? did you freedive or scuba? what depth did you see fish at. Did you dive from shore or boat? I have been up there the last few days and have seen a few fish and no carp. I'd like to get up tomorrow, but i need a better spot to fish. |

Sorry about the bitch fest i just needed to clear my mind. I actualy feel a lot better now. On a positive note the lake was up to 52-54 deg. and i saw some bass in shallower water. I think the weather will be nice all week and the lake should get to 56-57deg. Somewhere around that temp, maybe a little warmer is when the bass move in shallow to spawn and become more active. we'll see. |

Re: 2008 Utah Spearfishing Tournament Series
I'm working on it. It's easy to get away for a few hours, but Yuba means I have to ditch the whole day. If I can get all of my shit done tomorrow then I can probably work it out. Are you going to the Marina/park by the dam?? I really think you need to check out painted rock marina. t looks brand new and the facilities look great. they have a group pavilion right on the water and i think its in a way better area for fish imho. let me know where to meet you

Re: 2008 Utah Spearfishing Tournament Series
Not sure where we are going to meet Bruce Boyd yet. I think he wants to meet us at the west side marina in the state park area. We will be checking out painted rock area though as well... No tanks we are freediving it from Jet skis... You can hop on Bruces Boat with him...

Re: 2008 Utah Spearfishing Tournament Series
deer creek last saturday. a few decent sized bass and carp all over the place near dusk.
one excellent walleye taken by my buddy. does visibility always suck there so badly? 10 feet vis at the bottom and no feet everywhere else?
