We have more than one prize per shooter as well as some pretty high value prizes. I am talking to sponsors just about every day. Our mutual friend Stuart of Kudana Spearguns just yesterday committed to sending a sweet prize table donation just shy of a grand of good stuff. Thanks Stuart!

Yesterday, I also spoke with Kevin of Ocean Rhino and he is back in with multiple spearguns being shipped next week. Today, I spoke with another recurring sponsor who makes great pole spears named Aaron Christ and he too is back in the prize pool.

That is just a taste from the past two days. I will try to get more sponsor prize announcements up this year in advance of the event. Right now I am working on editing and post-producing a video of some past events so people can see what we are talking about in addition to the numerous still photos referenced above.

I wish you could come Charlie - the venue rocks and the crowd is fun.

It is interesting how this year I am hearing from some people who used to shoot the SBO and BBO tournaments and then took a few years off. If they show up, it will be interesting and even more competitive.

Our long-time Master of Ceremonies Captain Billy Black is back again this year.

There is a very interesting prize coming onto the prize wall relating to Captain Billy.

Spearboard and BBO sponsor Aqua-Hunter Charters is donating an Alligator hunt like the one pictured below with Propman's catch of a 550 pound beast.

Captain Billy Black has been hunting gators most of his life and he will join the hunt with the winner of this prize. We will also send a TV crew on this gator hunt to shoot a segment for the TV show "Ocean Warriors" of which Captain Billy is a principal cast member.

This prize is worth over $1,000 and should be a blast.

Tony definitely is not exaggerating on the quality of the prize wall! I was there last year and I couldnt believe it. I am really bummed that I'm missing it this year but I'll be in Mexico next week and then off to the Cortez Bank here on the west coast the weekend of the tournament. Good luck to everyone, this is definitely one that you dont want to miss if you can help it.

I noticed there isn't a pole spear or best pole spearfisher category, though. Any thoughts on adding some recognition to the traditionalists? Maybe a category that includes hawaiian slings and pole spears while freediving?

The new hats ordered for the BBO for 2013 came in yesterday as well. Remember these have a detachable sun shade and are made of high quality microfiber so they are cool. The Navy bill color is good too for not showing finger prints when putting on or taking of the hat repeatedly.
