Sebastian Diving Report--July 23/24

With our shop located right in the inlet, we have talked to a bunch of you and have some pretty up to date info.

That Tropical Storm swell from last weekend still has the beach kicked up. Several boats that were out scouting for mini season reported snotty vis but nice numbers of lobster on third reef and on the reefs in 30-40ft off of Vero. Naturaly, the closer to Ft. Pierce the clearer the water became. The vis on the bottom in 60ft was 15' with only a slight thermocline. Bottom temp was 73 degrees. There was a lot of life down there, but very few lobster were seen. A couple of nice mangos and a handful of large sheephead made it into the cooler though! In 75ft due E of the inlet the bottom temp was 71 degrees and the vis was down to 8-10ft. The lobster seemed to be a little more plentiful out there. The 90ft ledge just off of Bethel had 12' of bottom vis, 72 degree temps, and LOTS of lobster.

Mini Season opens up officialy at 12:01 Wednesday morning and lasts until 11:59pm Thursday. We will be open from 6am til 6pm to serve all those divers who are out to get there 12 lobster limit. We have a good selection of dive gear so stop by on your way out. Also bring in your big catch and we will weigh it for you so that your bragging rights will be secured!!

A little update for those of you who are going out Wed/Thurs. The beach vis from Sebastian South to Vero has been terrible with vis of around 5ft or less in some areas. The 30-40ft stuff off of Vero is looking great and there was top to bottom vis at Bethel yesterday.

Get out there and get one for me while I'm sitting at work.....
