2021 North Atlantic Spearfishing Championship Tournaments
The North Atlantic Spearfishing Club will be setting the schedule for the 2021 North Atlantic Spearfishing Championship. The combined results of the three tournaments will determine this years North Atlantic Champion.
3 Sunday Tournaments - TBA Tournament time: 9am-2pm Registration: 7:30-8:00 Entry fee: $20.00 to be paid when you register ****Competitors - You must belong to the North Atlantic Spearfishing Club to compete in the tournament. Exception: New competitors are allowed to participate in their first "Open" without being a member of the North Atlantic Spearfishing Club, competitors score will count towards the meet but will not be awarded North Atlantic points. Any subsequent "Open" tournament participation will require club membership. Fish: All fish will be 2 inches over the State DEM regulations minimum size. Bag limits will follow current State DEM and/or Federal regulations. Fish governed by a slot limit will be allowed the full size range of the slot limit. Fish not governed by a minimum size shall be at least 12 inches in total length. Size and bag limits will be based on 2021 Rhode Island DEM Regulations. Rules: Tournament rules will conform to the Underwater Society of America’s (USOA) requirements for rules pertaining to the National Skindiving Championships. Briefing will be held prior to the start of tournament. Scoring: One point is awarded per fish and per pound. The maximum weight to count towards scoring is 15 pounds. Therefore the maximum points per one fish are 16 points. Equipment: This tournament will be a paddleboard (kayak) tournament with only muscle-powered transportation being allowed. Competitors are allowed to dive without a kayak as long as they enter and exit the water through the staging area. A diver’s flag (12” x 12” minimum ) and personal USCG approved floatation device are required by State Law. A dive knife is also required. GPS is allowed, fish finders are not (You can use the GPS of combination units if there is a way to physically disable the transducer for the duration of the tournament. Please contact club leadership prior to the day of the tournament if you would like to utilize this option.) Travel Time: No Travel time for the tournaments. The tournament dates will be set and posted after the spring club meeting. |
