Block Island Fishing/Spearfishing Regulations

Going up to block island next Wednesday through Saturday. Wanted a clarification on striped bass regulations, but would appreciate the full deal if possible. Thanks everyone

Re: Block Island Fishing/Spearfishing Regulations

Spearing around the island from shore or boat is about as good as it gets.

Striper regs are one fish per day between 28-35 inches. This slot is new this year and makes selecting a fish underwater a definite challenge

You also need a RI saltwater fishing license ($7/year RI Resident or $10/year non-resident or $5 for a week resident or non-resident)

http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/manag...g-licenses.php

All species are same via spear as rod-n-reel. Tautog is closed till August 1. Lots of Black Seabass around the island in depths of 20-40.

Enjoy!

Don't forget to clip the right pectoral (side) fin of the bass over 34" (between 34 and the maximum 35 inches)

And watch your back, there are a few Great Whites around, I saw a small one (~6ft) last weekend close to windmills.
