Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Agreed I would love to go see for myself. But I Solo h/l fished out in 140’ 2 Saturday’s ago. I have seen the other side there are flying fish and blue water out there. Turtles, dolphin Etc. Brought back yellowtail, lane and mango snapper. Put back at least 30 ARS. Also some almaco jacks and banded rudder fish for the smoker for fish spread.

October 11th and no crab traps out to have to avoid and you can pull stone crab traps Oct 15th - wow been a weird end of summer transition to Fall.

I’m on Isle of Capri Treasure Island brown water all day worse on the high tide with floating dead pinfish.

My led dock light a victim of the surge from Michael but that is a small inconvenience compared to those affected.

That said when things clear up I am looking for some new guys to dive with. Been spearing 5 years 200+ dives.

Have a 32’ Stamas Express with some time on the gulf. Would like to explore and do some 2 up 2 down buddy diving

Thinking 80’ the last depth I dive would be target #1. 90’ is my spearing limit

PM me if interested

Going to try to get out on Monday - but damn if I'm not having much luck finding anyone who can go out diving that day.

Sorry bro. I was down and now I'm down... on the ground... Grade 3 sprain. Ankle is f'ed.

I'm too old for these kids trampoline arenas. My 5 yr. old son was like, "Dad, why did you think you can do that?" Good question son, good question.

Damn - was hoping for a simple fracture - those sprains hurt like hell and really mess with your mobility for a while.

My first question. "When can I dive?"

2 weeks in a boot. She said 4-6 to heal. Stupid

Damn - but hey, I've got the whole week of Thanksgiving off, so you should be good by then.

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

25 miles west of NPR today (Monday 10/15/18) to 50 fsw.

Water temp 82 top to bottom.

Viz vertical was 20-25 feet - I could see outlines of ledge from 30 feet away.

Horizontal viz about 30 feet. Not silty at all, no gumbo.

No current, and wave conditions were very nice.

No sharks (other than a lone nurse).

I got a nice mixed bag - 2 nice gags (26.5" and 29.5", both fat), a 21" mango and others in the 14-18" range, a modest hog, and saw a nice number of decent gags that wouldn't let me get too close. No lions, a few sherpa, and some spanish macks swimming around. No goliaths.

Bonus for the day - a 21" flounder! My first of the year. Funny thing is my Shark Shield was responsible for it - it dragged along the bottom of the sand at one point and zapped the flounder in the sand, causing it to jump out of the sand (I never would have seen it) and then I shot it. Too damn funny.

Very nice day out - get out if you can, the hurricane did little to no damage and the viz will improve every day from here on out, I believe.

I suspected the viz would be good. Nice report.

Damn, I'm already stirring. So, I'm thinking as soon as I'm out of the boot I'll rent a scooter next trip. Not ideal, but I can't go six weeks man. Especially this time of year.

Thanks for report. Sounds like great day! Hilarious on the flounder! First I've heard of that.

The wife immediately renamed my Shark Shield - she now calls it "The Flounder Finder"

Who knew?

Yeah, Rich told me about that idea - I like it. So, no more trampolines for you, eh?
