Introduction

Hello Everybody,

Is great to finally join the community and read all your posts. I just wanted to make a formal introduction of myself before jumping into topics, posts, opinions, etc.

I was born in Venezuela (no Minnesota) and started spearing when I was 17 and had the privilege of training free diving with Carlos Coste (Venezuelan World Record) and Antonio Del Duca (Venezuelan international free diving athlete).

I recently started again to hit the water, mainly in the Tampa bay, near the Gandy Bridge (I know viz is awful but I have water fever).

I am looking forward to hear from you guys and learn more about this area and secure some good catches.

After all, I have a summer/winter kill list that I have to complete before the end of the year

Welcome to the board it sounds like you have more than enough credentials. You will find plenty of good spearing in the area mostly offshore stuff in the summer months due to the vis. But winter is a different story. Best of luck to you.

I have family in Maracaibo and Caracas. You are free to join me on my boat whenever I go out. I dive off the Bradenton/Sarasota areas in 15-45ft. Work has me off on the weekends lately.

welcome Juan. looking forward to shooting more fish this winter. Gandy bridge is one good spot but many better spots. Looking to get in the Gulf as well if anyone is interested. Always willing to help with expenses.

The water has been pretty bad but I hope this weekend we get better viz. I am planning on going to the Gandy and stretch my legs .

When was the last time you shoot at Gandy?

Three weeks ago..
Just after the floods, the weather has been holding up so it might be better (meaning I can see more than 4 feet in front of me)

The viz two weeks ago was about 2' at best and this weekend is going to be about 6" send me some pics if you hit anything. Best of luck.

Went out this Sunday 20 miles out of Johns Pass. Viz was about 10'-12'

I went out close to the Skyway... terrible viz not even 10 ft. Shot a couple of Snappers and left.
