Daytona and ponce inlet report
Made it out today(friday) to scrap one out . Dove 12 and 16 miles out . 3-5 ft vis . green and sandy. managed some flounder ,so they must be pretty thick. Worked out to 20 miles and a little to the north . Vis picked up to 10 ft towards the end of day as the current picked up.Random assortment of fish out there but still had to work hard for them . Plenty of lobster once you got in 80 ft. Hope this saves someone a trip or gas unless you really like the dark water and things that go bump. Also noticed the commercial kingfish boats working the party grounds ,so bring your flat line . Good luck out there .

Re: Daytona and ponce inlet report
I'm using the crappy conditions to go to the Parks with the family and putting dive trips in the bank. I think they are paying 10 to 1. Hit Epcot/Disney last week and Universal today. I should be good for at least 20 good trips!
Good luck guys, shoot 'em up!! |

Re: Daytona and ponce inlet report
x2.
Made it as far as the bell buoy and called it off. Would have been a cold wet ride! Its not worth beating up the boat, dive gear, and just not safe diving 1 up and 1 down in an ocean like that. Saw a nice grady walk around head south... had a nice enclosure... we watched them to see if they would try it or not and they went for it. I'm sure they had a decent ride out, but they're going to pay for it when they head in. Passed a few other outboards by disappearing island, not sure how far they made it. Lots of sportfishers heading out that are in town for the invitational. Those are the only boats I'd want to be on today! Good luck to the ones who braved it! |

15-20 vis today in 80-90 ft. Couldn't have asked for much better considering the weather lately.

Re: Daytona and ponce inlet report
Couple bugs, couple small flounder, couple snapper. Not too bad.

Re: Daytona and ponce inlet report
Had 3' yesterday at the Party Grounds. Didn't bother with completing the dive after face planting on the bottom. Seas / Winds were building all day. Got really sporty on the ride in. But, we did manage some gaffers, blackfin, and a nice sail on the morning troll in 160'.
