Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Finally got my watch delivered.Im happy.I didnt get to see or try one on before ordering. Its a large watch which is fine since Im not exactly a small guy.For almost half the MSRP I would recommend Jomas. They are grey market but stand by what they sell.
Going to try a little surfing in Destin when I get some honey do stuff done.It will be a good test to see if the watch will take some falls and abuse.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
I was asked once why I wear a Rolex. I answered: It reminds me of the value of time.
A watch is about a lot more than telling the time of the day. For some of us, it conveys a philosophical message and reminder that our time is precious, fleeting, and temporary, and it needs to be redeemed by doing the best possible things with the limited hours we have. A watch is also an enduring piece of beauty and art. And if you buy the right watch, it doesn't make a bad investment either.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
I have a year or two to be mortgage free.Once I dont have the mortgage and I get my sailboat I will PROBABLY(sailboats are not cheap} get a Rolex or Tudor for a reward.I will adapt the time being precious line to my wife when I buy the watch.I can get a nice RIB and some electronics for the sailboat for the price of the watch. If you have not figured it out yet sailors are chea.....Frugal.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Good on you for getting the mortgage paid off. Few achieve that. And sailing - I know how expensive that can be. Nothing like wind in the sails and the slap of the water against the hull though...

Sucks at times not having a big log house on a trout stream or a new truck every two years or the new boat but not having to pop for the payment every month eases that pain some.Rum seems to help too. Most of my relatives are trying to keep up with the latest and greatest stuff. They dont OWN anything and seem to always need to borrow a vehicle, tools or money from me despite living way better than me.That has been stopped too.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
Happiness is in relationships, not stuff. The poor think money can buy happiness; the rich know better.
My father in law used to say: Blessed be nothin', it ain't no bother. Truer words were never spoken. Besides, being debt free feels really good when your body doesn't, and you can stay home instead of having to go to work when you are hurting all over.

Re: Dive Watches(Spearboard Watch thread)
I had one of the first G Shocks.I was building homes and warehouses.Watch took a LOT of abuse and kept on working.
I wanted to get the wife and me a matching watches we could hand down to the kids. She is REALLY picky with jewelry or perfume so I got her what she needed. Dont have much money now since we are paying everything off and Im remodeling the guest bathroom. Im selling my travel trailer, catamaran, fishnski and the little sailboat to get out from the mortgage this year. When the bathroom is done Im going to slurge on some NUB Nuance cigars though.
