Metal Detector
Anyone use a underwater metal detector?Any ones to stay clear of or equipment needed?
I cant spear in the lakes here but there are several cliffs, rope swings and rafting areas where people lose jewelry.Local FD guy used to just go down and pick stuff off the bottom with an old tank he filled with his compressor. No detector.

Re: Metal Detector
For that, the cheaper fisher UW detector will work. I had one and on a wreck it was always sounding from all the iron.

Guy that had a sailboat on the same dock as mine would anchor in a cove and have the wife lower a speargun and bag down on a rope.He would fill the bag half a tank into the dive.Told him it was illegal and he just smiled and said he knew.
