Swordfish Attack!

Just seen this on the news.
A well known Australian Female Surfer was taken out by a Swordfish in Tahiti or thereabouts.
Sounds like it was a deliberate attack!
Looking for food or, what do you think?

Have we ever lost any divers similarly?

Be even more careful out there.

Regards,
Mike.

Wild story. Italian surfer, surfing in Mentawai Islands / Indonesia, first reported by Australia. Initially said was speared by a swordfish, but later changed to stabbed by some sort of needlefish. 2 inch cut into chest. "Alexandre Ribas, an owner of Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais, told USA Today that after Manfrini was struck she screamed and fell off her board."

I guess that the fish probably got scared by something and jumped out of the water, and just happened to hit her. Some needlefish can get big.

Re: Swordfish Attack!

Thanks Tyson.

That makes more sense than original story.
