Anyone been out at Catalina?

Heading to Cat on Thursday night! Has anyone been out lately? How's the vis? Hoping to get some yummy yellows!

Re: Anyone been out at Catalina?

I was anchored in Cat Harbor from the 6th to the 9th last week. Viz was decent at 30 ft, a little hazy because of the south swell. Saw a few yellows under 10lbs, but I only jumped in for a short dive. I am sure there are more quality yellows out there. Water looked bluer offshore. Good luck!

Re: Anyone been out at Catalina?

was there until the 8th....green south swell and wind put a damper on things...ran the canyon south 10 mile below Catalina but, mostly green water....vis is improving...wsb and yt up to 30 lbs are there...metering for squid will put you on the fish...watched a 209 and 238 lb bluefin plus a 25 lb. yellowfin get weighed on the green pier...3 other bluefin brought in; one by a diver...big fish moving northward at a good clip...looking good...

or,easier, become a tourist and go see Dory at the Casino theatre for an underwater fix.....
