Soaking A Wetsuit?
I got a suit from a craigslist spearo and it is pretty stiff. He recommended I soak it before I use it. Im wondering if I am supposed to just use tap water or water and conditioner or something else to mix in?
I have never heard about this soaking thing, but I guess it makes sense. He also said to keep it in a bag with some baby powder??? That one caught me off guard. Any one else heard about that, or do it? |

Re: Soaking A Wetsuit?
Just soak it in a tub of tap water. Wetsuits get stiff after sitting in a dry space for a very long time, and more so if it dried out salty. It's also an indication that the neoprene is losing it's elasticity.

Re: Soaking A Wetsuit?
If a wetsuit is stiff, I don't think soaking it will make a difference.
One of those soft Yamamoto suits feels soft as a baby's butt even if dry. Last edited by Bill McIntyre; 06-28-2011 at 11:00 PM. |

Re: Soaking A Wetsuit?
I took it into the shower with me and lubed it up and cleaned it, seems to have helped. I want to try soaking it to see if it helps.

Re: Soaking A Wetsuit?
eh, if it is a used wetsuit, soak it in a solution of water and hibiclens.
i have seen wetsuit conditioner at scuba shops quite often (well, i dont go into scuba shops much... but it's always there) and i think that is kinda what the stuff is made for.... |
