Ponce Inlet 4 May 2012
Another great day out on the Atlantic today. Out NE of the inlet with Jim, Scott and newbee to spearfishing Steve. Steve is one of our instructors at Atlantic Scuba while he is working on his degree at Embory Riddle.
A steller day... first drop, Scott and I drop in on a secret spot, unfortunately it wasn't that secret. No gags at home. Vis about 40 ft in 90 fsw, 74*. Jim and Steve drop next, see a couple but cannot get the shot. Scott and I back dive it, but only picked up a few flounder. Scott and I move to our next spot and dive the wreck... wow, several gags and a bunch of goliaths. Scott and I both bag our fish. Moved 5 miles north and Jim and Steve drop. Jim comes up with his gag. Scott and I drop again and clean up on trigger and flounder. Jim and Steve make their last drop and Steve finally nails his first gag. WTG Steve. Decided to move back south for Scott and my last drop. More triggers, founder and I bag a 30# cobia sitting on the bottom behind a ray. Got back to the dock around 4:30, started cleaning fish by 6:00 and just got home. Wow what a long day. Time to get some sleep and get up at 4:30 to do it all again..... Scott was the officail photographer today and shound post the pics. Total take 4 gags all about 18#, 35 flounder, 8 trigger, 1 cobia. Thanks guys for a great day |
