10/8 Ponce
Finally made it out on 10/7 with some new found friends. Stopped at on of the artificial reef sites on the way to the party grounds and got our fill of Founder, 39 in all for the 4 of us. Next was PG where we found our limit of 24 bugs in short time. I pulled a 9.2lb bigun out from under a ledge and turn around to see a 25+ Grouper watching the action. I tried to contain my excitment and not chase him like I usually do(which is why I still havn't shot one yet) I tried to ease in, he started to turn and I fired hitting him but somehow when he took off I felt him pop off. It was a long shot but I tried. I was low on air and didn't have time to search for him. They other guys did with no luck on the next dive. Great day all in all. Viz was about 15'on 13 and maybe 20' at PG.

Re: 10/8 Ponce
Good job!
Take that extra second on the gags and clock him behind the eye on the lateral line...sometimes that placement doesn't even have to penetrate all the way in order to roll him over with no fight.

Re: 10/8 Ponce
Good report and nice haul. Grady is 100% on the shot placement suggestion. Hit them high. But, if you've got some time and there's any kind of ledge near by - and Mr. Gag won't give you that perfect shot - just wing him. Any shot, even a glancing scratch, and he'll go hole up some where and wait for you to pound him. Then you'll get your Gag.
