Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
Please, share with us what is your professional background and experience in epidemiology you are basing this opinion on? COVID-19 is much more contagious than a flu. Real case mortality is currently unknown however in Italy it reaches 8%. In my professional opinion ( I am a trauma surgeon with added qualifications in critical care) our local government is not aggressive enough in closing any areas where person to person transmission can occur. Currently, there is over 50 000 reported infected people in NY and the real number is probably much higher. You are entitled to your own opinion however I am the one on the frontline of the incoming deadly pandemics, expected to manage number of patients exceeding resources available in the hospital. Are you planning to come and help me when we are going to run put of masks, gloves and ventilators?

Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
BTW, vis was poor out of Cape Canaveral on 8A, 5-10 feet, water warm, no significant current.

Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
Went out of Sebastian 3/26 to 55 ft. First stop vis 5-8, second stop 10-12, third 5-8. We ended up with 17 lobster, 8 snapper, 1 or 2 trigger. Went out again on 3/30 and in 55 ft vis was poor so we moved out to 80 ft for the next to and had over 20 ft of vis for both dives. Ends with 10 nice fish and 4 good lobster. For both days almost all of the Lobster we’re several pounders. Not one short. It was odd. Temps in 55 were around 70 on bottom, high 60’s on 80 feet. Great diving.

Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
Sebastian.
Went out Sunday ENE to 80 feet and was in some of the darkest water I had ever dove. 45' to the bottom was pure green snot. It was like night diving. Vis was 4'. From there we headed NW to 60 feet and the bottom was a lot brighter but still only 5'of Vis. From there we went south about 9 miles still 60 feet and vis was the same 3 to 5. Never fired the gun. |

Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
Went out of Sebastian 6/25 ENE to 80ft, had 15ft some spots 20ft other. We covered a lot of ground and Ended in 60ft. The visibility stayed pretty consistent. No significant thermocline anywhere we went. Got some triggers ,mangoes, and prison snapper. Never spotted a legal grouper. Nice diving though.

Re: Sebastian or Canaveral Vis
Yesterday vis in the 40 ft reefs off vero was top to bottom. The bottom temp was 76. Very nice easy diving. Did some scouting for lobster season. I did not see many on the 40 ft reefs.
