Re: New Guns for 2020

There is someone in your part of the world that does amazing epoxy finish on his guns. His name is Ihab and I think he still sells spearguns. You should contact him and I am sure he would be happy to give tips. I have a few of his guns and to be honest I have yet to see a better epoxy finish on any gun ... and I have seen hundreds of different guns.

Re: New Guns for 2020

one note which may help you guys ,the handle when you glue it you should considered the shooter hand shape and contour ,these affect the accuracy and recoil .

I was thinking about using glitter from a craft shop (or just stealing some from my daugther when she is not looking) and see how it goes. I don't want big clumps of it... just a few touches here and there.

That has to be contamination. Probably greasy, silicone or something. I suggest you clean your gun with clean rags and acetone, or even go as far as using anti-silicone cleaner like the one used in autobody shops prior to painting anything.

Usually what you get are fisheyes, which are just small non-wettable pins or dots that repel the epoxy and don't get covered no matter what you do. But in your picture I see an extreme case of it!

Whatever you do, install your gun in whichever support or jig you will be coating the gun on, clean it with the aforementioned products and don't touch it with your bare hands ever again (nitrile gloves if you need to do it, don't use latex, the epoxy eats through it)

The guns look awesome!

Re: New Guns for 2020

I have used wire coat-hangers bent to shape to form hooks and supports to hold stocks while they are painted. After the job they can be thrown away and you use a fresh lot when the painting task comes around again. Sometimes a gun can be dangled from a clothesline hooking it through the trigger mechanism slot or via the muzzle band anchor, wherever there are available holes. Or a temporary screw is inserted to have something to hook onto. Still days with no wind or dust blowing around of course.
